Getting to know you

All the pet guides say you should start handling your hamster really soon so they get to know you.

I've approached this really gently with Hamish, firstly by talking to him a lot and getting him used to my hand in the cage.

I'd been thinking about how to coax him out of his poly tunnel nest so I could play with him without causing him any distress then realised I had another, smaller hamster cage in storage.

By lifting out the centre section of his home and where his nest is, popping it onto the blue base, he can come out and explore when he is ready. Meanwhile I can give his home a good clean.
