City Chooks

Into Hanoi this weekend for a little bit of R 'n' R, and some good food and drink of course! Its nice to finally have a weekend with no list of things to do or buy. I'm simply here to enjoy myself and do whatever I feel like doing. So today I joined a running group - the Red River Runners. Nothing like an experienced running group to make you feel unfit though! I ran 8kms but was ready to collapse in a pile of pain after about 5km! But now I am more determined then ever to get my fitness levels back to what they were 5 months ago. I'm ready for the challenge!

These chickens were in the middle in down town crazy Hanoi, just pecking away at seemingly nothing on the ground. Dad was also there but the shots with him, mum and the chicks wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I've seen the odd chicken or rooster on the streets of Hanoi but never a whole family before :). On the way back I passed them again and she had gathered them all up under her wings for a snooze. It was such a perfect shot! Two little heads poking out from each side of her body. I had just grabbed the camera out of my bag and was getting ready to shoot when the lady who owned them started calling to them. Before I had time to say kawm kawm (no no!) the chickens were up and dispersing over the footpath. Moment missed. The lady actually thought this was what I wanted and seemed very pleased to have helped me get a photo! Oh well, can't get them all!
