Smurf bowling on Mars
This morning I sat out in the garden with my book and got so engrossed in it that I didn't realise I had partially fried my knees... ouch!
By the way, the book is Why be happy when you could be normal by Jeanette Winterson. It is her beautifully written memoir and it made me laugh and cry.
Anyway, after calming down my cooked knees we took a wander up to the local flower show.. paid the princely sum of 40 pence each to enter.
The displays were rather sparse but the handful of people there were very proud of their entries and all round jolly decent coves. We made a stab at trying to ask intelligent questions about the flowers and vegetables and I don't think we showed ourselves up too badly... although there was some rather loud laughter as we left - could have been laughing at my knees, of course.....
We carried on up to the park and took a seat in the shade by the bowling green. These ladies were in the middle of a match but were happy to have some spectators... Some of this lot could be stand up comedians.
It was very entertaining listening in on their mid game chatter. They even asked us if we wanted to join.... ahem... we politely declined and hot knee'd footed it out of the gate. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a marvellous thing to do but I feel that it would be something to consider in about another 20 years time maybe.
I was messing about with the colour balance and chanced upon this combination of hues. It will not be to everyone's cup of tea but I like the odd, alienness of it.
Not sure whether the pictured ladies would approve!
