Passo del Tonale

A wonderful drive over the mountains from Lovere to Merano today, about 200 km. The pass is almost half-way and is 1860 metres high. I had half expected it to be cloudy and freezing but nope, it was sunny and a bracing 12C. The blip shows the gondola ascending towards the glacier, where skiing is possible even this late in summer.

It felt strangely like 'coming home'. I use quotes because I don't mean Edinburgh or Scotland, but the Tyrol. I have been in these mountains and their huts and cafes so many times it feels very familiar and comfortable.

Oh yes, and pylons.
