A beautiful day on Arran
A stunning day from start to finish. I went out early to catch the sunrise which was right n front of where we are staying. It was quite warm already and I sat on the bench and watched the sky change colour and the sun pop up above the sea.
We started the day by watching the seals and birds at Lamlash Bay. This is a 'No take Zone', the first in Scotland, where no fishing is allowed at the moment. The seabed a few years ago was ruined and hardly any life was present after over fishing in the past especially by trawlers but already there are signs of life returning.
On to the Visual Arts show at the High School, some impressive work and I really liked a 3d piece of artwork of a street in Arran, it did make your eyes go funny though but very well done.
Over to Lochranza through pretty villages ,where we picked up sandwiches from the Sandwich shop, really tasty. We sat in the carpark to eat them and watched expensive yachts and speed boats sail by.
A quick look at the " craft fair" bit disappointing as there was nt much there.
I walked round the bay where I took this photo of the Golf course with the castle in the background. I would say it was a tricky course as not only are there sheep and lambs in the way but also deer, including the young stag you can see in the photo.
Icecream at the Arran Distillery followed, caught a glimpse of the Golden Eagle.
Another walk at Sannox , more closed toilets ! Lots of Spring flowers in bloom and a willow warbler sang beautifully from a blossom tree. Swans , which are everywhere on Arran, swam in the burn.
Back to Whiting Bay and a walk along the coast to a good viewpoint of the Lighthouse on Holy Isle. There was a very pretty Easter Cross outside the church. Two horses were enjoying a late evening trot on the beach.
Tired now so back to our little cottage for Dinner.
