Disturbing
We have new LED lights in one of the meeting rooms at CodeBase. They appear to have a grid of LEDs behind a panel designed to diffuse the light with the lowest losses possible.
The diffusing effect seems to be accomplished by using a textured surface that acts as an array of microlenses, and it produces some wierd effects.
From many angles, each individual LED creates a ring of light, but as you move you get the impression the ring is perpendicular to the surface of the light. It's really rather disturbing and unnatural.
It will take a bit of getting used to...
