Volcan
There's a few volcans on that photo, and yes, that is lava either side of the road, right up to the edge of the road in fact. Out early on the bike and up to Los Hervidores and El Golfo to ride around the alien landscape before cutting inland and heading down through Yaiza then climbing up to Las Brenas, with the road bringing you out at the roundabout which is halfway up the climb to Femes (the tough as owt ascent that I did yesterday). I had no such thoughts today though of going up there and simply turned right at the roundabout and within a few seconds was freewheeling at around 45mph for the run-in to town which lasted a glorious two or three miles.
And, I'd enjoyed myself so much over the course of 35 miles in the morning that I went out again for another 24 miles late afternoon when it went a little cool and cloudy. Only for it to then go incredibly hot, sunny and decidedly uncloudy when I was out there on the road. It didn't matter one jot - felt great.
