1000 blips
This is blip #1,000 if my numbers show up correctly. I've used the opportunity to complete a long outstanding series of blips from Egypt in December last year. I had shot a series of images from a balloon flight over Luxor and then went back two days later, at five o'clock in the morning, to capture the balloons being set up and taking off. After a couple of hours, I got noticed and one of the local organisers at the launch site approached me and asked (in a somewhat accusatory tone) if I was a journalist. I said no I wasn't and he said he didn't believe me as he thought no one would get up that early for this. I wanted to explain to him that I was a blipper, and about blipfoto, and the sometimes crazy dedication that being a blipper demands, but in the end I thought that line would have seemed way too incredible. So I took his remark as a compliment and left it at that.
Thank you all for your interest and support. I appreciate it all very much and do enjoy looking though your journals as and when time allows (I travel a lot as you know from my blips and am currently about 20 blips behind because of that (not helped either by a 3-week hiatus as a consequence of a computer blow out)). I never thought I would get to 1000 blips. I did 400 blips and then took a creative break for a few months and have now done 600 in a row. Blip takes up far too much of my time but I do get a lot of fulfilment from it and from writing too and I love the way it enables me to mark a roadmap through parts of my life.
