Cherry Iris

The highlight of my day - this little iris coming into bloom in the garden!  Its a couple of years old now and has until this year it has only had one flower.  However it has multiplied and this year has two!  I am really pleased as in previous years it has been quite bady eaten by slugs before it has a chance to come into flower.

Aside from that my day has been one of wandering up to the allotment, doing a bit of watering, weeding and protecting my new blueberry bush and staking up my new apple tree.  I also attempted to make some supports for my French beans (not that they are planted yet) but I need to get some longer canes.  It was good practice trying though as I have never made bean supports before.

On both my trips up to the allotment I returned via the old railway line and the chiff chaffs, black caps and great tits accompanied me with their singing as I went.  Its been such a pleasure having some time off work, to have the time not to worry about the time!
