He spent a good while standing at the counter looking serious, even pissed off most of the time. When I asked him for a shot, he couldn't resist a smile, even though I asked him not to. Meatballs, for those who take an interest in these things, were splendid. As were the chips and the courgette fritters.

Had a good day chasing Romans, then trout in a tree house and a walk in a river. Splendid.
