Much deserved glass of wine.

So... we eventually arrived in Cornwall.

We had intended to leave Teddington at about 7pm on Wednesday, but once everybody was in the car, the pneumatic suspension completely failed. After limping home from the A316 (WARNING: max speed: 5mph), our only option was to hire a car for the weekend... from just north of Heathrow Airport. Thirty minutes each way, with another twenty minutes to fill out all the forms, we were reloaded and ready to leave again by 10:15pm.

Then, the M3 was shut due to night-time roadworks.

And, the diversion route had a road closure just at the end.

So we arrived in Honiton at 1:15am, where we stayed the night. Next morning (slightly later that expected), it was lovely to see relatives in Whimple, although we were not really at our best after the late night.

On to Falmouth (which was, thankfully, quite a pleasant drive) and our table for our evening meal was booked in the Gylly Beach Cafe in Falmouth. Sadly, if you want to eat from the pizza menu, it turns out you're not allowed to eat indoors  - you have to go outside in the cold, even if you have two octogenarians in your party and you booked ages ago.
What's more, you don't get cutlery or plates: you just get a pile of cardboard boxes dropped on your table containing the bits of your meal they hadn't run out of.
