Was It Really So Long Ago

The Green

Due to us parents being out for most of yesterday and late into the evening (without the children and enjoying ourselves too - HOW DARE WE??), Beloved's family stayed with us overnight. And due to us parents having enjoyed ourselves somewhat liberally yesterday, enthusiasm for cheffing a large meal was lacking to say the least. The Mistley Thorn performed admirably (I can heartily recommend the mixed grill seafood with red salsa, entitled in the Italian tongue something like Grigliata mista di pesche con salsa rossa).

Master H's patience for the anticipated arrival of the desserts was fast waining, leading him to begin charging about the restaurant, mixing with waiting staff carrying hot plates of food. An abrupt halt to that fun was called for, before disaster brought it about in a much more unpleasant fashion. So he and I went for a quick stroll around the village. I can report that the quay remains unfreed and The Green remains pretty much unchanged since the last time I ventured there, about 40 years ago (quite how it can be that long ago I can't fathom) when family and I lived along the road in a house rented for the duration of our new family home being built in Lawford.

Happy days.
