The Pratomagno again

A great head-clearing walk at 1425m on the Pratomagno. Even think I might have seen a wolf scat - I have a photo (he said with dubious pride).

We saw a sign saying that 'avvistimenti' - sightings - of wolf are possible at various places up here.

So good to walk in the high cool air away from all the Easter celebrations. The religious orders all escaped up to here - Valldomborsa, La Verna, Camaldoli and St Francis himself.

This is the mountain village of Montemignaio at the head of the Casentino valley.

Extras are an amazing Austrian timber ops truck in the beautiful Valldombrosa ('shaded valley') beech forests.

The other is iris and olive trees below us here in Monteloro.

Spring is advancing so quickly. Dock have seeds. Nettle flowers out. Orchids up. They say April is the best month in Tuscany. I'll keep you posted.

The chicken is ready.
