Stroud House in reverse

I spent the morning with Camilla photographing some of the buildings in the town centre which have been selected as 'notable' and to be included on the Local List. These are buildings which have interesting features but have not been given Listed status.

It is a project arising from the Town Centre Neighbourhood Plan which I helped to initiate a couple of years ago and which was finished following the referendum on it just before I stopped being a town councillor. Stroud Preservation Trust agreed to coordinate a survey of buildings and their features and the short list has now been made. I offered to complete the pictorial record which will be added to the list on the town council's website ion the near future.

We were photographing the outside of Stroud House, when a friend of Camilla appeared who was working inside the building. As we wanted to have a peek inside she let us in to check if there were any interesting interior features (sadly not as it happened) but I spotted this view of the window above the main entrance, which will remind me of the day's work.  This sign writing was very tacky in the first place, gradually succumbing to wear and tear.Sadly it hardly fits the scale nor the original attempted grand design of the building.
