Beara Adventure 3: Evening light Allihies
We stayed in Allihies - a one road village over-looking the sea and nestling into the mountain side. It is reknowned for its brightly coloured houses- each one different with some amazing colour combinations, brighly painted apparently so the fishing boats could follow their way home. Allihies was an important mining centre in the 19C and everywhere are dotted old mine buildings and shafts. Copper was mined and Cornish miners were brought in to do the job.
O Neill's Bar did a very good pasta, and pear crumble.
