Today a local guide gave us a very interesting tour of Hong Kong, off the beaten track. He was a fountain of information about the history, culture, language, food, economy and politics. It was a side of the city that many tourists probably miss, but is important to understand, especially in contrast to the very modern and wealthy European-influenced financial district.
