Songkran

First off Happy Easter to you all.

Well here in Thailand we have been celebrating New Year,  and this is done by sprinkling people with water.  Our idea of sprinkling and their idea varies greatly.  Yesterday, forewarned, we headed out to get bread and milk, taking the back road.  By the time we had done the ten minute walk we were soaked.  Kids and adults alike throw buckets of water at people, especially farangs like us.  Aswell as buckets people are also armed with super soaker guns and hose pipes.  One young lad asked us to wait whilst he turned on his hose pipe, we dutifully complied.  Once at the shop we kept to the edges so as not to drip to much water everywhere.  We had  just finished paying when a staff member ran up to us and sprayed our legs with water.  It is all great fun.  Today was a lot quieter locally.  We did not go to the moat as we have heard that it gets really crazy.  Plus a lot of people do use water directly from the moat which is not the cleanest.  On the whole it is a lot of fun, and as it is summer here the temperature is in the high 30s.

My extra shot is of a lovely couple who sprayed us today and then allowed me to take their photo.

If you are wondering about the quality of this shot, my camera was in a zip lock bag.
