Meanwhile...Back At The Swamp

Took a quick peek around the swamp this afternoon and nearly missed this big boy tucked in among the marsh weeds.
This staying mostly out of sight behavior is typical for a larger, more mature alligator. They don't get to grow up to be one of the big guys by being too easy to locate.

Conversely, I saw a number of babies (3-4 footers) actively floating around close and right out in the open. They need to learn.
