Imperial

Last night's reading went well.  Our writing group had been working on pieces inspired by the John Buchan Centre in Peebles.  John Buchan was a multi-talented individual who wrote the '39 Steps' among other things and was Governor General of Canada among other things.

One of my pieces was inspired by the hat he wore on ceremonial occasions  which used ostrich feathers as the dominant decoration.  I wondered what the ostrich might have felt about its feathers used for such symbols of imperialism.

So the crown imperial lily was the obvious blip for today.
