Bat Outta Hell

Hildasrose had the bright idea of going on a Segway tour around Compton Verney Gallery and Stately Home with its beautiful Capability Brown landscaped gardens. 
 It was all booked up for today and StevenG, Anniemay and Igor, Blacktulip, JohnRH, Hildasrose and SHH and I all had a thoroughly enjoyable day out , with the inevitable lunch, cakes, coffee and browsing the gift shop for retail opportunities.
We had our Segway tour booked for 12.30 for an hour, of which about half an hour was spent learning to control and steer our powerful throbbing steeds. Rose was first up and this is her being shown the ropes. She was a natural at it, as you can see here. We set off up and down all the grassy and gravelly slopes and gained confidence as the minutes went by,  throwing up showers of pebbles doing handbrake turns in front of the main house. Well I exaggerate slightly but you get the picture.
Then we tootled back down to the start and all decided we were just about getting the hang of it!

After that we went back to the house for more refreshments and a look round the art exhibition. 
It was a lovely day despite being rather overshadowed by the concerning news that LooseCanon's mother is very poorly, he would have come but went to see her instead.
