Kampung Air
In Kampung Air, Brunei boasts that it has South East Asia's largest water village. I'm not sure the claim is correct, but what's striking is that there is a sizeable number of people living in wooden homes on the water next to the very manicured city centre of Bandar Seri Bagawan. The difference between a water village here and one in Indonesia or Cambodia is that here the government builds regularly spaced jetties that are serviced by water taxis, large schools and if your wooden house becomes too dilapidated it replaces it with a concrete breeze block structure that you can pay for through a mortgage.
