New calf
A girl this time called Lindsey. White cow always has to come in when she's calved as her teats are always huge and hard for the calf to find and latch onto when it's first born.
It's been a busy day. Lambed a ewe this morning that had a huge lamb stuck at the shoulders with my help we got it out fine. It's a bit dopey so had to help it sook some milk.
After deer feeding and lunch and bringing in white cow and sorting her out we brought in all the older lambs and their mums plus a few extras so we could put them back to their hills. The lambing field looking a bit bare of grass with so many on it. Takes some time to pair up ewes and lambs and number and tag and add to the electronic system. Also drawing off any ewes that aren't in lamb. Took all afternoon but that's now 33 ewes with 33 lambs out the lambing field and 3 sets of twins into the twin field. At least another 10 ewes have lambed in the lambing field so getting there should be over half by the end of the week.
Nearly forgot to put how well Pip worked today. We wouldn't have got the ewes and lambs in without her she did a super job. Hoping that's it's all my training work this winter with her that had helped her to be more confident and steady and controllable.
8c rain on and off all day wet this evening
