It's the Little Things in Life
Entered the Yorkshire Orienteering Championships on Stony Moor. Not the best event to choose for a return to the sport after injury. Steep escarpments, tough forest with heathery and tussocks moorland and a steep hill down to the start and back up from the finish. But it was a lovely day and the event was close to home.
Managed to arrive at the start without my dibber (a smart chip which records your visit to controls and overall time). Not good news as had to scale the steep hill back to the car park to get it! However I enjoyed being back out in the forest having thought I would struggle to return to the sport. Technique was rusty but that was to be expected.
Richard took this photo to celebrate my return. Just have to work on fitness and complete a few more events. Really enjoyed catching up with the Orienteering community.
