It's not all about books

Alternative September Daily Challenge Day 6: Everyday

This is a blip about something that happens every day of the week, 24/7 in our home; and that is learning.

These are some (not even half) of the books which come out in the mornings and get packed away again in the afternoons once we finish 'school'. during the week, but our 'school' day doesn't end there, that is just the written work/side of things, there is lots of education happening before and after the books too, through watching documentaries on TV, through reading books from the library, through having discussions about news events, through playing on the computer, through investigating and experiementing, through growing their own food, foraging, creating fires from scratch, having some responsibilities, through cooking, baking and being creative, through just talking and visiting places, through joining other home-educators for social and educational activities, through attending extra mural activities and learning how to live life by involving them in daily life and understanding which skills you need to do so.

Both my children have a fascination and love of learning (one perhaps more than the other) and this has been gained through home-educating, because their development has been nurtured through love and patience and a style that suits their individual personalities.
