A Walk In The Sunshine
Gem's been off on a pamper day with her Mum today so I've had the whole day to myself. Decided to go and visit my parents and take a little trip down memory lane.
When I was a kid, back when Sundays were still a day of rest, the shops were closed, and Sky hadn't made sure your Sunday afternoon revolved around Premiership Football, My Mum and I would watch "The Waltons" then set off for an hours walk along the cliffs and down to Broadsands Beach then back home.
Broadsands has always been a special place for me, I'd spend most of the summer holidays either building sandcastles, kicking a football around or paddling in the sea. One Christmas I was given a remote controlled digger and the beach was the perfect place to test it out, the only problem was my Dad wanted to try it first! (I'm sure Dad's buy their sons presents just because they want to re-capture their youth!) I got to play with the digger eventually but only after a passer-by mentioned that my Dad might want to let me have a go :-)
I think what I'm most impressed with is the fact that nothing about this beach has changed in the 32 years I've been spending time there, it just goes to prove that if it aint broke, you don't need to fix it!
