Crummie's Bay
Sometimes it's necessary to combine a beach with a mountain.
It helps when the one sits just above the other. A beautiful ridge run in the Urris Hills, finishing with a scramble around the rocks at the bottom of the little headland separating the two beaches of Crummie's Bay. I've taken over a thousand photographs on this trip, but I think this one pays homage to Donegal better than any other.
Nearing the end now of an amazing week in the remote far north of Ireland. It seemed a crazy thing to do at the end of March, but TJ has an instinct for these things, and I'm incredibly grateful for her spirit of adventure. The weather continues to be wonderfully kind to us. We've only got wet once and have often found the sun emerging just when we've most wanted it, almost to order. A brave and very much spur of the moment decision to escape responsibility has been rewarded with an extraordinary sense of space in the shape of dramatic headlands and endless deserted beaches. It's been the perfect antidote to the immediacy of modern life, the demands of which never seem to diminish.
Thank you, everyone, for all the love shown to my Donegal blips. It's really appreciated. Hopefully, you will be inspired to pay a visit to this very special place yourself. You'll understand that I've not wanted to spend any more time than necessary on-line, just enough to post when I've been able, and to let friends know that I'm still alive!
