And a Lamborghini for free
Another day tooling around the backlanes. Met a nice woman who it turns runs an agriturismo where The Boss once went riding twenty years ago. She referred me up the road to a bloke who knew the guy who sells meat from a van near us. Then met an cherry cheeked, bright-eyed fellah in his seventies with a twinkling sense of humour and jeep who showed me around his huge house - this is the view from it. Truly splendid with the side of an Etruscan sarcophagus as the mantle piece of his huge fireplace. He knew and I knew we couldn't have afforded it even in dreams but we both played along and had a bit of fun. He then showed me a rental property and his wife's paintings.
Then just a few kms away met a squat white-shirted, corduroy-tousered farmer with a wonderful brown face and Tuscan nose who said he would give me his Lamborghini tracked-tractor if I would buy his 6 hectare smallholding off him. He'd recently lost his dad - at 106 - and he had fallen off his tractor twice recently and reckoned it was time to give it up.
Then up over a long high gravel road that went up to 900m above a place of steep-valleys called Acone.
