St John's Church, Shenstone
This picture spans over 750 years from the ruins of the old Anglo-Saxon church, which dates from 1247, on the left to the current mid-Victorian church on the right. Shenstone lies on a small hill and gets its name from an outcrop of rock that used to be visible on the hill known as the 'Shining Stone'. This name derivation is commemorated with a modern stainless steel sculpture called the shining stone which is situated in the village brook and which I have previously blipped on a number of occasions.
