Pesky little blighters

I love hostas. Unfortunately so do the slugs and snails that live in my small garden. They have started munching away at the new greenery already! Previously I've tried copper tape around the pots, quite effective but it eventually falls off. So this year I've resorted to chemical warfare in the form of pellets. If anyone has any tips, they would be gratefully received.
