Ambleside from Wansfell Pike

I lived down south for most of my life, visiting the Lakes whenever I could, which was never enough. Ambleside was always my journey's end, or at least the staging post to other corners of the National Park. Above the little town stands a modest peak, Wansfell Pike at 482m/1,581ft. I still experience the same feelings of exhilaration when I climb it and look across the town to Loughrigg Fell in the middle distance and the central fells beyond. The Langdale Pikes are dead centre on the skyline. Wrynose Pass runs through the col on the left.
