Scapa Ranger

Stevie Mowat was the trustworthy skipper / owner / operator of the Jessie Ellen that ran from Stromness to the Hoy Pier for many years.  In the winter months this smaller vessel, the Scapa Ranger, did the run.  It was an interesting run in coarse weather; CMC still speaks about the very bad gale when Mary Mackay’s teeth came oot.  Mary didn’t care - she just wanted to be on dry land.

The Scapa Ranger is now beached on Hoy below the Kirkyard.  Stevie still thrives and can be seen making guest appearances at the Stromness Pierhead.
