Chidley Beach
Sometimes its ok just to sit and maybe try to think of nothing at all, of course its inevitable that after a few minutes we start to talk about the recent events that have effected our family greatly.
We recently had our youngest son in hospital with a serious bout of pneumonia brought on by a recent chest infection he thought he was over, causing his lung to collapse, an emergency rush to the hospital the staff there could not have done more to ease the pain and distress he was in, after a couple weeks slowly his lung has started to heal, he is home now recuperating, doing very well and doctors are pleased how well he has recovered.
We thought worry over, then middle son during a motor cycle race at the weekend hit a hidden log on the track, he has been cycling for a long time and takes every precaution, wearing the right gear, steel toe cap boots, never taking risks, this freak accident hitting the log caused his foot pedal to crush his foot between log and pedal, resulting in said pedal piercing through the soul of his thick rubber riding boots, crushing one of his toes and breaking two others, another emergency trip to the hospital with his family in tow, another phone call another worry,.
Mark lost part of the crushed toe that night during surgery, he is so lucky it could have been worse, we tell ourselves these things.
Mark is now home but will spend the next few weeks on crutches.
The 3rd and perhaps worst phone call in the last two weeks of course has been the terrible news of my Father In Law's illness, Glyn has now booked his flight, he flies out next Tuesday arriving home Wednesday, Glyn will be better there with giving any support he can to both his parents and Brother who lives close by, he has another brother living in Germany who also arrives next week, the 3 of them together will make them all stronger,.
They will meet the Macmillan Nurses each day who are taking very good care of Dad at home since he came out of hospital, the consultant says to do anything that he feels able to do, we are hoping the 3 months he has been given will be quality of life and will be good weeks, time will tell.
Elwyn has a room reserved now at the local hospice which is an old Georgian style house converted into an hospice, in lovely grounds we have been told, both Glyn's parents can go here whenever they think they are ready, that of course will be their call, Mum looks frail now and Dad tired but chatty on FaceTime, we are glad they still pick up and want to chat, hopefully they will have plenty to talk about when Glyn is with them all next week, he will be good for them, always calm and reassuring a rock during tough times, we have had a few over the last 44 years so i speak from experience, this one will be his toughest quest.
I don't often wear my heart on my sleeve but there it is our last few weeks of worry, concern, and hope..
Today was a good day..
