Red-Winged Blackbird Sings Out!
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
'Cause there's a million things to be
You know that there are
The morning's rain was just drizzling to a close as I drove to work, and I wondered if there would be mist at Millbrook Marsh. So, of course, I stopped for a look.
The skies were clearing at the edges of the horizon as I walked along the boardwalk, listening to the birdsong. I spotted a downy woodpecker, robins, three cardinals, two mallards, and several of these fellows: the red-winged blackbird.
You can always hear them before you see them, as they make a very distinctive sound. I admire the way they give it their all. A singing coach would be proud, as they always put a lot of passion into it.
Here's how. Stand atop the tallest thing you can find. Take a deep breath. Ready the wings for the push. Lean forward a bit. And then really shout it out! Let the world have it!
You can do what you want
The opportunity's on
And if you can find a new way
You can do it today
