Aubergine, pepper, asparagus

Today was actually much nicer than I thought it would be when I set up this still life.  However, I don't want to be tired for choir tonight, so tramping the hills, even in patchy sunshine, didn't seem such a smart option.  Do please tell me if you think I've let the aubergine (eggplant) merge too much with the background?  Originally I processed it with this in mind, but in the end I preferred it's silky darkness sinking into the black.

Not much else to say about today - mostly relaxing and uneventful..
