Another Sunset . . . .
We took my sister to the airport today, sad to see her go, but we had all had a great holiday and enjoyed each other's company. It was 30 years since her first visit to me in Orkney, so was a bit of an anniversary trip for her. The flights all went well and she was relieved to get home to her son and dog, but not sure which order that should be in!
Went to see my friend in the old people's home today too. It is almost unbearable to see how much she is deteriorating, and at what speed. I will keep visiting her, although it is very upsetting to see her like she now is. I have to keep trying to remember her as the cheery, energetic and spirited lady that she was until not too long ago. I just wanted to smuggle her out and look after her myself - totally impractical and unrealistic. She is warm, well fed, comfortable and has plenty of company and I know I couldn't do a fraction of what they do in there for her, but it is so sad to see her there, in her room, looking tiny and exhausted and not understanding what has happened to her.
On a much happier note, we took Ollie onto the beach and had a bit of a much needed walk, while he had the first dip of the New Year! It was a cold but beautiful day, and just the day for it, if you are a water loving beast!
