The Fleet

This is the beach below Abbotsbury, and the saline lagoon behind it was studied by my dad for his geography O-level. Apparently, the stones one the beach are sorted into size order (presumably longshore drift), which allowed smugglers to gauge their position when landing there at night using pebble size alone! Very hazy at the back is portland Bill (of stone and cement fame).
