Still waters run deep?

Enjoyed a tasty breakfast in a village square complete with 'lavadero' - a public laundry from the last century. Tickytocky captured one in use in France few weeks ago.

Classic breakfast of whole meal baguette with olive oil, tomato and salt. The coffee was great too - despite my love of the subtle flavour and convenience of Nespresso, here the coffee has a healthy hit of robusto blended with the arabica - perfect antidote for a restless night's sleep!

I welcomed new guests to the Cortijo this afternoon which meant tonight we headed home to the mountain.

Already after 5 or 6 days we've really cleaned up a lot and the local town hall has left skips in the streets so we can dump everything burnt; which is great as my FJ needs a complete valet having been a shuttle for all sorts of blackened debris!

Rafa has been fantastic - its do time consuming to find suppliers for the building work, new windows, cleaning, garden etc - and of course hundreds of others are seeking the same suppliers.

The community spirit here is stronger than ever - we live in a very international community, and the drama of the fire has really brought people together. We're hoping the government will declare Malaga province a disaster area, as that unlocks hundreds of millions of euro of EU aid to re surface the roads, re install utilities and reforest the mountains.
