The lady of the North....

...or the Naked Lady of Cramlington or, as the locals now affectionately call her, Slag* Alice. :-)

I've been taking the occasional shot of her under construction over the last year or so as I whizz past on the train, but I heard this week that she's complete! There was an official ceremony a couple of days ago and now the public can access the site and walk the four miles of curving pathways all over her. It makes more sense if you see the aerial shots in this. I'd originally thought she was called Northumbria, but she's Northumberlandia. I've amended my tags accordingly.

It was very obliging of the farmer to arrange his bales so artistically.

*For non-locals: a slag-heap is a heap of rubble formed from coal mining waste, but a slag is a slang word for what my dad might have called a woman of easy virtue.
