Beach landing, Barra

This stretch of sand, in the north of the island of Barra in the Western Isles, is the only place in the world where there are scheduled flights landing and taking off on a beach.

It was a great flight over from Glasgow (even if the plane did feel a bit like a draughty flying minibus) and landing on the beach was very exciting, the wheels kicked up a lot of salt spray.
