Quoys, Hoy
Went across to the Hoy Kirk today to meet a young student from Greece. She is pursuing a PhD at UCL, studying ‘Heritage Projects in fragile island Communities’. She interviewed several folk on the island involved with the project. We got soaked walking up to the Kirk but it was sunny when we walked round to CMC’s mother.
Highlight of the day has been reading through a recently discovered diary from CMC’s school in 1963. There were only a dozen bairns but they took it in turns to write each day. Makes for fascinating, and often hilarious, reading. It’s a gem of a discovery.
After checking on CMC’s brother’s calfies we caught the ferry home. CMC Snr is coming for lunch the morn and I have been told I am on Chef Duty.
A stiff Cragganmore is called for. Followed by and 18 year old Aberlour. Maybe just a Linkwood too...........
