Devizes (Tuesday 28th March 2017)
Building work at home had become focused on digging up the pathway in my front yard and so I decided to remove myself and went off to the Smallgrain Plantation to eat my lunch. It is a picnic site adjacent to a nature reserve, and exists on the site of an old scrap yard, apparently, with commanding views. From there I went on to the Crammer in Devizes and to Devizes Wharf, near to which I found this scene.
These swans live around Devizes Wharf and their territory extends to The Black Horse in the west and the London Road Bridge to the east, so they are not the Caen Hill pair, and in fact have had quite violent disputes with them when they have clashed near the Bath Road Bridge.
