California poppies

What a strange day yesterday was - it was literally 48 hours long - we arrived in San Fransisco before we left Fiji, date and time-wise.
....and now to America. You know l do have a policy of if l have nothing nice to write, l won't write, however, we arrived in Los Angeles, waited .5 hour to disembark and then the fun started. We queued for 400 metres to get to a machine to enter passport details, have an eye scan and finger prints taken. We then queued for 600 metres to get to a man in a booth and present the printout from above machine, have our iris photo done again and finger prints - all this on top of having paid for an ESTA waiver in advance. 1,000 metres = 1 kilometre and 2.5 hours of queueing! We then collected our bags, walked another kilometre to another terminal and paid $25 per bag to fly to San Fransisco. I even had to queue to go to the ladies loo!

Are now comfortably ensconced in hotel in downtown San Fransisco and have spent a very pleasant day with our son who lives here.
