Flower Friday : : Mostly Buttercups
This morning Sonya, my Pilates teacher told me that she thought I needed a weight program...moi? "Pilates is not enough", she insisted, "you need to strengthen your upper body". I hate weights. It's boring. I'm feeling more than resistant to this suggestion....
When I was a kid I used to lie on my stomach in the grass and read a book. My memory tells me that I did this for hours. I don't remember my back hurting. I don't remember prickly oak leaves or itchy grasses. I don't remember bugs. I remember Elizabeth Enright. I remember Nancy Drew. I even remember Comic books.
Today, motivated for a third day in a row to take a picture of the wildflowers and grasses that are coming up in record numbers in our field, I experienced all of the above as I tried to capture a field of buttercups blowing in some fairly gusty winds.
I thought I would experiment with camera movement and subject movement, but no matter where I put my shutter speed, I got a fairly well focused picture. I lost interest n the whole project when I started to feel the still damp ground soaking through the knees of my jeans and the carpet of oak leaves prickling my elbows. My decidedly graceless descent resembled the method used by a camel. Rising was even less graceful. I'm feeling old...
And somehow I don't think lifting weights is going to make me feel young again....
