Survivors

Some flowers live longer than others.
Some drop their petals quite fast.
But the love behind the giving
will last and last and last.

Some cards are kept for ever.
Some are recycled quite quick.
But the love behind their arrival
will stick and stick and stick.

Some shelves and tables are empty.
No flower or card will arrive.
But the love beyond their absence
will survive, forever survive.

These are the survivors of the flowers that arrived a week ago. And since I took the photo, one of the anemones has collapsed and shed its petals. I'm still enjoying the remaining beauty.
