View from my Terrace
The poached eggs on toast were delicious and then I couldn't wait to get down the hill to my flat to start unpacking.
In I went and what's the first thing I did? Switch on the telly and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to work. Signal strong but TV couldn't access it. I thought it must be something to do with the singe feed but couldn't fix it and I have no idea why it worked at the old place with only a singe feed. The FreeSat box has been temperamental about grabbing the signal even when it isn't recording but I just couldn't figure it out.
So I thought I better try to get something else working and switched on everything in sight. And low and behold the underfloor heating came on.
Brilliant but did I unpack? No. I had to get the TV working. I eventually got the bus to B&Q to get an adaptor so I could try to pick up a FreeView signal for my old BT box. The crazy thing is that there are 5 TV points at each end of the lounge but none of them are labelled. I knew that the first one the Sure guy tried yesterday didn't have a satellite signal so thought it might be Freeview hence trying the old BT box which I used in my first flat over here.
I got the connector and walked back from B&Q then tried to get a Freeview signal but there wasn't one. BUT the connector fitted the second feed for the FreeSat so with both feeds working so was the TV.
So I can now sit in my lounge surrounded by unpacked boxes and watch TV basking in the warmth of the underfloor heating. The hot water is hot so I can have a shower.
Tomorrow I will have to unpack boxes!
The photograph is taken from the patio. It is accessed from the first floor then back up outside steps to 4th floor level. But I couldn't get any of my keys to work the lock. I can open it from inside but was afraid to spend long up there in case someone in the other flats walked up or down the stairs and locked the door. So a rather hasty shot..
