Lunch time!

Today's blip shows an old mechanical school bell. I was at a Glasgow primary school this morning doing a job and the janitor showed us this wonderful instrument. It has been working for 100 years - installed in 1912.

The whole thing works like an ancient central heating clock with a series of pins being inserted into the brass ring to determine daily break bell time.

The janitor did mention that it's an absolute nightmare to reset when the clocks move each spring and autumn :)
