Mothers Day and I'm sitting by the river at Boroughbridge in the evening with a portion of chips ....... my only hot meal of the day.

Not as bad as it sounds. I'm sure Jane would have cooked me a delicious Sunday roast if the decorator hadn't been in wallpapering. Instead it was a cold buffet with food from the local farm shop.

We checked into our hotel at 4.30 to find it packed with diners and drinkers. The riverside option was so much more peaceful.
