You have to love grandchildren who take the time to thank you for birthday and Christmas presents even though it is likely that it is because they are badgered by your own dutiful children.
These drawings were included with Anna's thank you letter for her 11th birthday present. Her twin brother Finlay thanked me with a decorated e-mail.
It's not only good to know that presents are appreciated but that they have arrived safely in the post.
It is strange that two days and one night away from home can feel like a week. There is always some catching up to do which feels stressful in itself, without flat viewing for a returning emigré and a quick reprise of 'The Out Run' for a book group meeting tonight. Must go and get on........
