300 Upside down
New year, new baby, new Blip, new century, New-veau riche, new ways.
Old habits (die hard), old camera, Old Spice, old money, old ways.
Gained skills, weight, vision, colleagues, friends, experience.
Lost freshness, hair, sight, colleagues, friends, common sense.
300. There it is. Jaysus. 300. So much time invested... So worth it.
I would like to thank Joe and all the Blip Crew for creating such an amazing site and bringing a great community together. My well-deserved Paypal secure contribution will go out your way the minute the regular membership comes into life.
At the end of the day, even if I am not overenthusiastic about the way Blip is transitioning into a (necessarily) paying site, this is not my site and I am still very happy to contribute to it (for free).
I am saddened to see many valuable fellow contributors opt out on moral grounds. Things may change slightly but then again they may not, because at the end of the day I still thoroughly enjoy sharing my shot/comments/banter with the vast majority of the people who make this place what it is.
If I have to be totally true with myself, I can't wait to have a little golden camera beside my name in 65 days or so. Who am I then to think differently of people if they are keen on purchasing the F thingy?
I just reckon that it is good to discuss it though. It is always better to let these things get discussed until they fizzle out rather than shut them down.
I am too lazy to hold grudges and so are 99% of the people.
Enough with the not so positive feelings. This is not what Blip is all about. This is not what it has been. This is not what it will be. At the end of the day, what Joe and Blip have brought me has no price tag. I will be eternally grateful for the last 300 blips and their spark of daily inspiration/creativity/introspection/desperation blipping.
And I reckon that I still have a few more blips in me. When you hit the wall, you just keep banging until you break your way through.
And in the words of the very wise Red, there is no need in getting our collective knickers in a twist.
I won't have that problem anyway, the washing machine in the Raheny household in running 24/7 for the three younger monsters, I have been going commando for the last 6 weeks...
