In the beginning...

So, here we go...

Caught up in the excitement of the free internet at the hotel in Gatwick I suddenly decided to attempt signing up for a blog. It seems like a good way to try and create a good record of what happens on my year abroad, so I'm hoping to try and remember to update this regularly.

As I sit here, soaking in the atmosphere of people checking in, tired flight attendants walking past and the lights dimming to create a more 'ambient' atmosphere in the lobby, I'm naturally thinking of what is lying ahead. All I know at this point is the basic facts such as where I'm going, when, why etc. It's strange not knowing exactly what is ahead, but that's all part of the excitement. Honestly, I can't wait to get there and start seeing what's in store.

All I have to do now is survive a flight with high class easyjet, negotiate my way out of Madrid airport...and a taxi ride to get me where I need to be.

Right, enough of this rambling. Apologies for the first picture, which is obviously not one I've taken. Just thought a map would be a good place to start to set the general context for a year on the continent as an Erasmus student. Will add at least one real photo in the next entry (once I've worked out how to do it).
